Holy, Holy, Holy (Thursday)

It's Thursday. And the camp is seems to be unifying on many levels. Worship has become a team/group activity. Prayer and sharing openly has become regular. And we saw a spontaneous conga line to "Car Wash" at lunch (see below).

Bottom line, as hard as I try to portray camp and the day's activities, no video or text can fully describe what is felt right now. I encourage all who are following the blog to ask a camper about their week when they return.

Hey All,

We are at full steam here at camp, and God's Spirit is moving incredibly. In fact, that was the subject of discussion for the day; I Am the Spirit. Darron Gauthier visited us in the morning and gave a lesson on "The Holy Spirit" (click here for access to the audio file of the lesson).

Wow! My first day of camp activities! (Open Swim (Boys), Crafts, Basketball (3 pt. shoot), Ultimate Frisbee, Yoga/Pilates, Card Games, Volleyball, Karate, Double Dutch/4-Square, Corn Toss, Extra God Time, Tetherball, Kickball)

I am: The Son

Today got off to a great start with a lesson from Curt Simmons about Jesus' sacrifice for us. That was followed by time of reflection about different aspects of Jesus' at 4 stations set up by counselors. The four stations were:

Hammer and Nails. Campers held the type of nails used for crucifixion, as they held the nails, they were to reflect about the depth of love Jesus had to let himself be crucified.

Beaten Body/Spilt Blood. Campers took flat bread and tore it while thinking about Jesus' body being torn for us. They then took a cup of grape juice and poured it on the ground while thinking about Jesus' blood spilling on the ground for their sins.

Crown of Thorns. Campers felt a branch of thorns, much smaller than the type used on Jesus but still painful.The campers prayed silently while thinking about the pain Jesus endured.

Spare Change. Campers held a coin, reminding them of Judas' decision to choose money over Jesus. As they held the coin they thought about what things in their life they choose over Jesus.

After the four stations, all the campers wrote anonymous notes to God on poster boards, expressing their feelings in view of the cross.

I am - The Father

At the end of the Parable of the Prodigal Son, the father throws a huge party and feast for his son's return home. So, today we had a huge party and feast to better understand the love God has for us.

Set-up for Quest!

Hello all from Polo, IL where highschoolers from all over the midwest will spend a week of their precious summer together in fellowship, learning from courageous teachers in the Kingdom and glorifying God through song, games, and SUN!

My name is Bob Dignan and I'm honored to be heading up the blog for this year's camp. This is my first camp experience ever (!) so please excuse my excessive excitment for the week to come. Prayerfully, God works in amazing ways through the camp and the blog to bring a piece of the experience back to civilization.

This being my first camp ever, I thought I'd start early on the blogging...
